The flowage is a magical place all throughout the year. Over 13,000 acres of fresh water, islands, and channels, the flowage is home to every wildlife species known in Wisconsin. It is also known to be home to FIVE World Record Muskies!! Hayward (the nearest town about 5 miles away) is well known to have been one of Al Capone's most favored hide outs! Al Capone; Chicago’s notorious 1920’s gangster kept a north woods hideout in the thick forest south of Hayward.
